Headache For Fordham Admissions

Image2,500 Fordham applicants got a notice from a third-party financial aid contractor, Student Aid Services, congratulating them on their admissions to Fordham, two days before they were expecting official notification from the admissions office, reported Ashley South in The New York Times (“2,500 Get False News of Acceptance to Fordham,” 12/12/13).

While this notice was followed quickly by another email message from the Fordham admissions office, informing these students that the Student Aid announcement was an error, and that they needed to log in the following day for their actual admissions decision. In fact, 500 of the students who received the notice were rejected, and 200 were deferred.

Fordham joins a small group of other colleges who have had other errors of false admission news: Vassar College and UCLA.
